3.03 Newton Abbot 2m1f Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Class 4 4yo+

The 6yo She’s A Novelty looks destined to win two on the bounce.

Fergal O’Brien is in great form this GB jumps season with a 28% win rate over hurdles and a 21% win rate including all horses in the last 14 days.

Last time out at Bangor she won very well and should have no trouble giving up an additional 7lb to Ginger Du Voi.  She’s A Novelty was hampered at the first and eased at the finish and she still won by 6 lengths.

Liam Harrison is a very handy claimer to have on board as he has won 26% of his rides over hurdles this GB season

Easkey Lad has won two from his last three runs. He seems to be a hold up horse who likes to do his work at the end of a race. He just missed out last time by 1 ¼ lengths after struggling to get a clear run from just before the last. Without the problems it is likely he would have won or been very close. He effectively goes up 4lb for that win as his jockey does not claim 3lb this time. I think he will be fine with that.

Ben Jones is back in the saddle having won on him previously. He has roughly a 1 in 6 strike rate this GB season over hurdles.

The Paul Nicholls trained Easyrun De Vassey has a great chance to redeem himself after finishing second here on the 6th September.

Paul Nicholls is in great form winning 2 from 6 in the last 14 days. This GB season he has a 37% strike rate with his hurdlers.

Easyrun De Vassey finished second here twice in his two most recent races. The most recent was a class two which he lost by 3 ¼ lengths.

The thing I like the most about this horse is that he is back on his winning handicap mark of 109. He raced off 121 last time (114 with claimer) and has been dropped 7lb to 114. With his claimer the 114 becomes 107 which should allow him to have a good winning chance.

The ground and trip will suit and he will welcome the drop back in class.  Angus Cheleda has an 18% strike rate over hurdles over the last 5 GB seasons which shows a good degree of consistency.
