2.55 Newbury 1m Conditions Stakes Colts and Geldings Class 2 (2yo)

The only one I really like on the flat on Friday is King of Conquest.

Charlie Appleby is in fantastical form with 13 wins from 33 runs in the last 14 days. He has a 33% win rate on turf this GB flat season with his 2yo.

Lope De Vega’s progeny cope well with good to soft but are better if the going is good or better. With no significant rain due the going could improve to good ground and that should suit King of Conquest even better than when he won on good to soft. A 1m trip is the bread and butter of a Lope De Vega horse so there should be no problems from that point of view.

He won really nicely on his debut doing everything that was asked of him and showing very little greenness running on well at 7f.

The mighty William Buick is back in the saddle having won on King of Conquest on his debut last time out. He has a 27% strike rate riding 2yo on turf this season.
