Flat Racing Saturday

2.55 Haydock 1m6f Handicap Class 2 3yo+ 0-105

Noble Masquerade makes a lot of appeal moving up in class running from a low weight in this race. His racing post rating vs his official rating suggests there is potential to improve and he will enjoy the ground.

There is not far to run until the turn in a 1m6f race at Haydock and he will benefit from his low draw as it will be easier for him to get to the prominent position he likes to race in. Hopefully by tracking the leader he will be able to keep out of trouble and come past at the end using his weight advantage to reduce the stamina requirement needed to accelerate past the lead horse and keep the others behind him. That’s the theory anyway!

He’s been in good form this season and is ready for a race like this with two class 4 wins and a second place in the last three runs.

Whilst he has never run at 1m6f the potential to step up in trip is there having won going away and readily over 1m4 f and 1m3 ½ f. Good horses sired by Sir Percy are capable of running longer trips like this. Two of his half brothers from the same dam run over jumps which shows stamina should be there.

Hugo Palmer has been in brilliant form with his 2yo over the last 14 days. I don’t normally go for 2yo races but these look good.
