Flat Part 1 3/9/21

Tip For Friday 3rd September

7.30 Pontefract 5f Handicap Class 3 3yo+ 0-95

The 6yo gelding Ginger Jam has come back to a winning mark and is the choice here. Ginger Jam has won 40% of the 5f races he has contested with six wins from 15 runs. He has not been to Pontefract before but I can’t see the track being a problem with that kind of record.

The last two times he came back to a mark of 80 Fridays jockey Faye Mcmanoman won on him in good race times over 5f on good to firm. She has won on him 5 times now so knows exactly what is required.

Last time out he came 6th 3 ½ lengths behind the winner. The jockey said the gelding was denied a clear run approaching the final furlong. The race entry reads not clear run repeatedly from 2 f out. When he found space he was ridden and stayed on but by then it was too late. The winner posted a fast time so in the circumstances the run can be seen as a sign the horse is close to winning again.

At the time of writing Nigel Tinkler has been in great form over the last 14 days with 9 wins from 31 runs. Although only one of those wins was by a horse aged 4yo+ it does show the yard is doing a great job at the moment. 3 wins were accumulated by Faye who claims 3lb.

Its 2.28am on Thursday and the selection has already received early support at William Hill moving from 9/1 to 8/1. I think this horse will win but I will put it up as EW.
