Flat Racing at Chester Friday 9 September

2.20 Chester 7f Handicap Class 4 2yo (0-85)

The 7f course is an interesting one in terms of the draw. It matters more then at 7 ½ f as the start is closer to the corner.  Being drawn low and ideally leading is important here. Being a slow starter is a killer to a horses chances. Hold up horses find it hard to do the business as the final straight is tiny.

I have decided on the well drawn Way To Win. He should hopefully get away well and try to make all. The ground should not bother him as he has performed well on good and soft and there is rain expected. Last time out he won a class 6 race in great style winning by 11 lengths.

His Trainer Marco Botti is in excellent form with a 31% hit rate in the last 14 days with 5 wins from 16 runs. Stefano Cherchi is in the saddle and has a 20% strike rate over the last 14 days.

3.25 Chester 7f Handicap Class 3 3yo+ 0-95

Course winner The Kodi Kid will not mind if the weather changes as he has won on both good to soft and firm.  He is proven to stay this distance having won a class 4 at Chester over 7 1/2f cosily in a good time. Although he raced midfield when he won that race it could be because he was a bit unruly beforehand. He normally races prominently which should be just the ticket. He should handle the rise in class and weight.

Draw 6 is about the highest acceptable draw here in a 10 runner race in my opinion but the stalls 1,2,3 are the plum ones. He should still be able to move to where he wants to be without too much fuss.
