Tips For The Flat Racing On Saturday 2/9/2021

2:55 Newmarket 1m (Row) Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+)

A P O'Brien is well and truly back in form now after suffering a savage out of form period.  In the last 14 days he has had 9 winners from 32 runners which is a 28% strike rate.

If the ground stays soft and does not go heavy then Mother Earth is the answer here.  She is a fantastic filly and it would not surprise me if there was more progression to show. She is a true group 1 horse and is excellent.

She won the 1000 guineas in good style and has had a great season picking up another group 1 win two races ago at Deauville on soft ground proving she is extremely versatile although she does not seem to like it when it gets heavy as much as other going.

Last time at Leopardstown she was beaten by No Speak Alexander. She got short of room and was hampered inside the final furlong and didn’t get a clear run.

Ryan Moore has ridden the last four times and is riding again Saturday.  He knows the horse well, is in great form and is an expert jockey.

4.25 Ascot 5f McGee Group Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105)

Boundless Power is a good favourite at a decent price.

At Doncaster last time out he raced over 5 ½ f. He led clearly inside the final furlong but was headed in the final 110yds by Hurricane Ivor who is currently in great form and won a group 3 next time out.

His last two wins have both been on soft ground and with more rain expected soft going is likely.

Rossa Ryan rode him last time and is back in the hot seat on Saturday. He did nothing wrong last time and was unlucky so he can redeem himself here.

Grant Tuer is great with his older horses and is a fantastic judge of the handicap. He won this race last year with Lezardrieux who went on to good things. If he thinks this gelding has a similar profile then we need to take note.

Stalingrad is extremely well bred being a progeny of the mighty War Front out of a group 3 winner. The dams sire was Rip Van Winkle. War Front progeny seem to prefer running on an all-weather surface.

He was gelded in July and changed trainer from A Stack to Grant in early September.

This will be his debut as a handicapper having only raced in maidens and novice stakes races previously.

Trip, class and going will not be a problem.

His first run for his new stable was 24th September at Newcastle. He had not raced for over 107 days and was probably a bit rusty coming 5th.  He was ridden by a 3lb claimer that day.  His Official Rating came down to 71 from 73 after that run and this time Grant has put a more experienced jockey on board in the form of Dougie Costello.

Dougie has a 29% strike rate over the last 14 days with 5 wins from 7 runs and is bang in form.
