Friday 8 October Jumps Racing Tips

I am working under the assumption that the going at Chepstow will be on the good side of good to soft.  It could possibly even go to good as there is no rain forecast.

2m3½f Unibet Persian War Novices' Hurdle Grade 2 Class 1 4yo+

Nicky Henderson is in brilliant form currently at the time of writing with 5 wins from 10 runners in the last 14 days.

First Street won his last two races both of which were class 4 novice hurdles. He won his last race which was over 2m5f by 8 ½ lengths after previously winning over Friday’s trip. He will have to step up in class for this but is well regarded having been sent off favourite every race so far and has been in great form.

He has a half-sister by the same dam who won on heavy so even if the ground is softer than the good going that I am expecting he should be fine.

5/1 with Coral seems way too big for a horse who has won his last two races so this looks like a great EW bet.

2m Paul Ferguson's Jumpers To Follow 4-Y-O Hurdle A Limited Handicap Class 2 4yo

Progressive came back from a wind operation to run a warm up race on the flat coming 6th but staying on with no apparent issues.  I get the feeling Henderson wanted to see how she was without revealing his hand.  The market will be indicative of how good a bet this is.  No doubt Henderson will have thought long and hard about the best way to go with this one and it’s quite possible like many horses she may come on a lot for the operation.

She looks quite versatile in terms of going and should be able to act on heavy through to good. Two miles will not be a problem as she has won over very near to the trip before.

If she is entered in to a class 2 I believe the stable must have high hopes.

With trainer and jockey in awesome form hopefully she can show progression.
