For Newmarket on Friday 8/10/21
Flat racing on Friday 8th October
The going at Newmarket is probably going to be good as there is no rain but there is a possibility it will be good to soft.
2:25 Newmarket Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies)
The 2.25 should be an exciting race. I feel Good American will try to make all again. He was extremely impressive on his debut and this is the one the field has to get past. He is likely to have progressed and I think the one to come past him is likely to be Pearl Glory.
She ran into all sorts of problems last time in a fillies Group 3 after getting out the stalls well in to a nice position on the rail. The rail turned into a nightmare as she got boxed in. Trying to start her run she got hampered twice in quick succession by the same horse. When she found space she took off like a scolded cat to get through a rapidly closing gap. By this point there simply wasn’t enough race left to try to win but came an excellent second losing out by 1 length. The race was won in a good time and she did well to close on the winner.
Obviously the Haggas stable is well represented in this but I think Pearl Glory is a real live wire and has a cracking chance as long as she can get in front of Good American at the end and keep Perfect News behind!

Whilst Inspiral is a clear and present danger I feel the 12/1 available regarding Wild Beauty is some kind of bookie based madness. Let’s not forget that unless I am very much mistaken Wild Beauty is the only group 1 winner in the field.
She won a group 1 one last time out at Woodbine in Canada by 2 ¼ lengths whilst easing down. To win a Group 1 whilst easing down is a sign of an exceptional horse.
Last time Wild Beauty met the favourite Inspiral swaggered off at the end of the race to win by 3 ½ lengths. Wild Beauty ran a bit green in that race and has showed good progression since. I think she will give Inspiral a real run for her money after showing good progression.
Charlie Appleby is in awesome form with a 30% win rate over the last 14 days. That’s 8 wins from 27 runs. William Buick is in the saddle which always fills me with confidence.

Another horse who seems to be exceptional value is La Joconde. Whilst she has some formidable company in her race on Friday I think this A P O’Brien trained filly has more to show.
The 3yo progeny of Frankel will be dropping back from Group 1 company to contest this. She has put in excellent runs on the last two occasions. She came third in the Yorkshire oaks where she was beaten by 6 ¾ lengths by Snowfall and third in a Group 1 at Longchamp beaten 2 lengths by Teona and ½ a length by Snowfall. Both these runs were very good and show that she is progressing if you take Snowfall as a yard stick.
The price on offer must have the stable lads hoping for a night on the town courtesy of their horse.
